Care With Purpose: What Our First Impact Report Reveals About the Heart of Our Work
At Sistability, we believe in the power of showing up — not just with services, but with intention, dignity, and care. Over the past year, our team has done just that, pouring their energy, empathy, and dedication into every mop swipe, garden bed, and check-in. Now, with enormous pride, we’re lifting the lid on what that commitment has created in our first-ever Impact Report.
This milestone isn’t just about numbers — though we’re certainly proud of them. It’s about visibility. It’s about acknowledging the human stories and community ties woven through each hour of work we’ve delivered. It’s about recognising that meaningful change doesn’t always look flashy. Sometimes, it looks like showing up, day in and day out, for people who need a little extra help to live safely and independently at home.
Here’s a closer look at the impact we’ve made together — and what “care with purpose” truly means at Sistability.
14,000+ Hours of Care Delivered
Care work is often undervalued in broader social and economic conversations. Yet, it is the glue that holds together many of our communities, particularly for people who are ageing, disabled, or recovering from illness or trauma. In 2024–25, our team delivered over 14,000 hours of services across the Northern Rivers — that’s the equivalent of nearly 583 days of continuous care.
These hours weren’t just about tasks being completed — they were about homes being restored to calm, people being empowered to live safely, and families breathing a little easier knowing that someone was there to lend a hand.
Supporting Over 200 Clients in the Northern Rivers
Our reach extends across urban centres and remote regions, supporting over 200 clients across the Northern Rivers. Each one has unique needs, preferences, and life stories — and we’ve had the privilege of walking alongside them in a deeply personal way.
Whether assisting with daily tasks, conducting a deep clean, or simply being a friendly and familiar face, our work is grounded in the belief that everyone deserves to feel safe and supported in their own home.
1,440 Hours of Gardening: More Than Just Maintenance
Gardening may seem like a small service, but for many of our clients, it’s transformative. Over 1,440 hours were dedicated to yard maintenance, helping people maintain not just the safety and accessibility of their properties, but also their pride and wellbeing.
A tended garden can restore a sense of control, invite community interaction, and provide a space to breathe. From pruning back overgrowth to tackling dense brush, our gardening team has delivered much more than aesthetic upkeep — they’ve delivered dignity.
750+ Hours of Deep Cleaning — Including Complex Needs
This year, we undertook over 750 hours of deep cleaning, including sensitive situations involving hoarding, trauma recovery, and squalor. These are not quick jobs — they require patience, compassion, and a deep respect for the people behind the circumstances.
Every deep clean we complete is more than a sanitation service. It’s an act of care, trust-building, and restoration. It’s about making a space liveable, and often, giving someone a fresh start.
A Workforce Led by Women
One of the statistics we’re most proud of? 92% of our workforce is made up of women — many of whom are mothers returning to the workforce after a break. Sistability is committed to offering flexible, inclusive employment that uplifts women and reflects the communities we serve.
Our team isn’t just skilled — they’re heart-led. They’re mentors, parents, caregivers, neighbours — bringing not just their labour, but their whole selves to this work.
Nearly $1 Million Paid in Local Wages
We don’t just deliver services — we fuel the local economy. With nearly $1 million paid in wages this year alone, we’re investing directly back into the Northern Rivers region.
Our team members live in the same towns and communities we serve, and that local loop of economic activity helps ensure that the benefits of our work extend far beyond our client base.
It’s Not Always Easy, But It’s Always Worth It
Care work is physically and emotionally demanding. It requires long hours, personal vulnerability, and the ability to hold space for people who are struggling. But ask any member of our team, and they’ll tell you: it’s worth it.
Because behind every mop or rake is a story. A person who wants to stay in their home a little longer. A carer who needs a break. A family trying to rebuild after a crisis. And every time we show up for them, we’re doing more than ticking off tasks — we’re building a stronger, more compassionate community.
Looking Ahead, With Gratitude
As we reflect on the past year through the lens of this report, we do so with immense gratitude. To our team, who carry out this work with grace and grit. To our clients, who trust us to enter their homes and lives. And to our broader community, for believing in the value of this care.
This report is just the beginning. It’s a benchmark, a celebration, and a commitment to keep doing better — for every person we serve, and every staff member we support.
Thank you for being part of our journey. We’re just getting started.
