Australia’s vulnerable hit hard with nationwide staff shortages
A Sydney Morning Herald article titled ‘Pandemic-led shortages hit vulnerable’ published on Saturday 5 February, by Caitlin Fitzsimmons clearly expressed what many of us already know. The article explains just how hard hit vulnerable Australians and domestic cleaning companies across the country have been by two years of border closures and lockdowns - “disrupting the work-life juggle for busy families and causing genuine hardship for people who are elderly or have disabilities”.
The severe nationwide shortage of staff has also impacted Sistability who primarily provide services to NDIS participants and Aged Care clients across Sydney and the Northern Rivers NSW.
“We have a long waitlist of clients throughout Sydney that could really do with our help in keeping their homes well-maintained and safe. However, due to the pandemic and the numerous lockdowns that have taken place, we’ve been unable to bring them on board as many of our own staff had to cease work and stay home to look after their own families. Unfortunately, this has also impacted some of our existing clients who have sometimes had to go without their service. Co-Founder & CEO of Sistability, Jade Taylor explains.
Thankfully, we are now starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel. We are working hard to recruit more team members to service our Sydney clients and those who are still on our waitlist, and are excited to announce that new team members are being added to our Northern Rivers team on almost a weekly basis so we can keep up with the demand.”
Sistability has recently expanded to more locations across the Northern Rivers NSW in which they can provide domestic cleaning services. These areas now include Ballina to Brunswick Heads, Lennox Head to Lismore and beyond.
If you or someone you care about lives in the Northern Rivers NSW and could do with some help cleaning and maintaining the home, we have team members ready to help!
